Grammy Nomination and more!

Dear Friends,

I woke up to some very exciting news yesterday. My most recent album, The Pieces That Fall to Earthmade in collaboration with Wild Up and New Amsterdam Records, was nominated for a Grammy!

As you can imagine, I’m absolutely thrilled. A huge amount of collective effort went into the three-year-long process and I’m so thankful in particular to conductor Christopher Rountree, producer Nick Tipp, and the amazing musicians on this record.

If you haven’t heard it yet, you can stream or purchase (CD or digital) from your favorite retailer, and you can watch the album’s lead music video below, directed by Four/Ten Media and starring Lindsay Kesselman.

In other news, I spent much of October working closely with pianist Shai Wosner and ECCO, the East Coast Chamber Orchestra, on the premiere of my new piano concerto, The Air Suspended. They gave performances in Memphis and Philadelphia before coming to the 92nd St Y in New York, who kindly produced a performance video that you can view here:

Shai gives the fourth performance of the The Air Suspended this Saturday, November 23, with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra in Ithaca, NY in a concert conducted by Cornelia Laemmli Orth. It will have further outings in Albany and Phoenix in March 2020.

Right now, I’m putting the finishing touches on my new ballet, Between Dogs and Wolves, made in close collaboration with choreographer Pontus Lidberg, which will premiere this coming March at the Vienna Staatsoper. You can read more about this and see other upcoming performances at my website.

Thanks for reading and hope you have a great holiday season!
Chris
